Hong Kong International Airport Arrival Guide
Landing, clearance and meet-and-greet, all in one place
Hong Kong International Airport (Chek Lap Kok, IATA: HKG) is Hong Kong's principal air border, with immigration clearance running 24 hours. Arriving passengers complete immigration, reclaim baggage and clear customs in Terminal 1 (T1), then step out into Arrival Hall A or B — exactly where your driver and meet-and-greet host wait. Below we walk through the location, hours, layout, arrival flow, airport connections and real-time flight information.
01 — Port details
Hong Kong International Airport,Hong Kong's principal air border
Hong Kong International Airport sits at Chek Lap Kok on Lantau Island and opened on 6 July 1998, replacing the old Kai Tak airport; it is Hong Kong's Airport Control Point. As an air border its immigration clearance runs 24 hours. Terminal 1 (T1) is the main terminal for arrival and departure processing, while Terminal 2 (T2) immigration facilities and functions operate on restricted hours and have changed with expansion works.
For charter and business travel, the airport is where a trip begins and ends: arriving passengers step out of T1 Arrival Hall A or B, where the driver waits with a name board, then head to the Ground Transportation Centre or a designated limousine / coach pickup point to board. For departures, drop-off is kerbside at the Departures Level (Level 7). It is also a key node for cross-boundary transfers to and from Macao and Zhuhai via the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge.

02 — Layout
How to move through the airport, one arrival flow diagram makes it clear
Hong Kong International Airport is an air border, so the key arrival flow is this: disembark → immigration → baggage reclaim → customs → step out into Arrival Hall A or B — where your driver and greeter wait. The diagram below is an arrival flow schematic (not an architectural survey), to help you get your bearings before you set off.
Schematic · not an official surveyNote: the arrival flow is concentrated in Terminal 1 (T1); immigration clearance runs 24 hours and eligible passengers may use the e-Channel. Transfer passengers heading to the Mainland / Macao can connect by ferry / coach via SkyPier without clearing Hong Kong immigration or reclaiming baggage — proceed to Transfer Area E2. Layout and flow are subject to on-site signage and the latest notices from the Airport Authority and Immigration Department (see sources at the end).

With the airport as start / end,how one car covers the whole trip
Dragging luggage through repeated transfers after a flight is no fun. Most people choose a "licensed business vehicle + professional driver": arrivals meet-and-greet at T1 Hall A / B, luggage in the car and door to door to your destination; for departures you are picked up at your door and dropped at the Departures Level (Level 7). The airport is also the starting point for cross-boundary transfers to and from the HZM Bridge, Macao / Zhuhai.
Airport transfers suit flight arrivals / departures, heavy luggage, elderly or business travellers, and trips needing an airport ↔ border (e.g. HZM Bridge) cross-boundary connection.
